Microban’s patented AEGIS® technology is unique.

Treatment with Microbe Shield modifies the surface to become an active antimicrobial

– demonstrating an ability to prevent microbial growth for 6 to 12 months or more.

The AEGIS® Highly Active Molecule

Silane Base

Enables the antimicrobial to anchor securely onto the substrate and provide long-lasting antimicrobial protection.

Positively Charged Nitrogen

The positively charged atom of nitrogen attracts the negatively charged cell walls of bacteria and other microorganisms.

Long Carbon Chain

The long molecular carbon chain or “spike” is the part that comes in contact with and disrupts the cell membranes.

How Does it Work?

Electrostatic Application – Surface Configuration – Microbial Control

Electrostatic Application

AEGIS® Microbe Shield is applied with specialized electrostatic sprayers that cover all surfaces evenly and wrap around 3 dimensional objects.

AEGIS® is water-based and after application, the water quickly evaporates, leaving a microscopic layer that is bound to the surface.

Surface Configuration

When applied to surfaces, AEGIS® Microbe Shield forms a colorless, positively charged polymer that bonds to any surface, hard or soft.

Microscopically, the coating resembles a bed of spikes – a treated surface with no migrating residue, no odor, and no off-gassing of any kind.

Microbial Control

AEGIS® Microbe Shield attracts, then electrocutes and ruptures, a microbe’s negatively charged cell membrane.

It inhibits the growth of microbes on surfaces by utilizing a charge disruption mode of action that will continue to work 24/7 for 6 to 12 months.

A Rapid Test to Measure Contamination

The Hygiena® Luminometer measures ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the universal energy carrier found in all living organisms.

ATP is a molecule found in and around living cells and gives a measure of biological concentration.

The Luminometer measures the amount of light produced, which is directly proportional to the amount of biological energy present in the sample..

  • Clean and Green Technologies will perform a test study free of charge on various high-touch points in your facility.
  • ATP Meters can measure extremely low levels of ATP collected with testing devices.
  • Measuring the amount of bioluminescence from an ATP reaction provides an excellent indication of surface cleanliness.
  • We will test several high-touch points prior to AEGIS® Microbe Shield application and then again post application.
  • After 2 weeks and again at 30 days we will return to test the same areas.
  • Data is collected through the associated software program and the results are made available to our client at no cost.
