THE POWER OF LIGHT

Photocatalysis occurs on our PurityShield coated surfaces when light activates nano TiO2, creating electrical energy at the atomic level and causing electrons to become “excited” and change their position.

Water molecules in the air (normal humidity) are then split and recombined with oxygen atoms in the TiO2 molecule to form two oxidizers – hydroxyl free radicals (OH) and superoxide anions (O2).

These two oxidizers decompose any organic contaminants that come in contact with the coated surface as air circulates. The TiO2 is a catalyst in this chemical equation. It is not consumed and therefore continues to create a self-cleaning surface.
